Posted on Jan. 28, 2010. After watching Conan's amazing final show, I was inspired to dig up and publish this clip, an "as told to" piece about Conan's Irish ancestry that I wrote for the New York–based Irish Echo, which put out a 70th Anniversary special supplement in 1998. Conan was hilarious and kind. I never really watched his shows, but I'm rooting for him all the same. This one's for CoCo and all he currently stands for: integrity and refusing to compromise when it means giving up your dreams.

Here is Conan on the charms and challenges of being Irish. Enjoy.
