I am a Brooklyn-based writer whose writing has appeared in numerous publications, including Artforum, Art in America, Food & Wine, Icon, Modern Painters, and the Village Voice. Once a week I contribute around four short art reviews to "Goings On About Town," The New Yorker's listing section. These are anonymous, but if you ask me nicely, I will tell you which ones are mine. Just don't ask me what I wrote about last week—I already lost track.

In general I write about art but frequently tackle other subjects, like architecture, environmental policy, even a 1970s television show directed by Norman Lear. I recently wrote this story, about my ancestor's participation in the 1862 Hanging in Mankato, Minnesota, the largest mass execution to ever take place in the United States. It came out in the online journal Triple Canopy last summer.

I am also a freelance editor with over ten years of experience who has done editorial work for the following publications and institutions:

Artforum
Art On Paper
• dOCUMENTA (13)
• The Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Visual Arts
• Hunter College Art Gallery
Modern Painters
• The Museum of Modern Art
• The New Museum
• SculptureCenter
• The Whitney Museum of American Art
The Village Voice

In addition, I copyedited Hotel Theory, an experimental novel by Wayne Koestenbaum published by Soft Skull in 2007, and Foul Mouth, a book of poetry by Bruce Hainley published by 2nd Cannons Publications in 2006. I recommend these excellent books, which are available for purchase here and here.

When I am not writing or editing, I teach. I have taught classes on contemporary art and theory at New York University, Parsons The New School of Design, and University of the Arts in Philadelphia. In Spring 2012 I was a visiting critic in the Sculpture Department at Yale University School of Art.
